This position manages delivery of pre- and post-sales customer technical support for Modelon software products. This position is based at our office in Tokyo, Japan. In particular we are looking for applicants with knowledge in python programming, cloud-based deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS), and design of web applications.
The Application Engineer works directly with the Commercial Team.
The key tasks are:
- Pre-sales commercial engagements where the prospective client wishes to evaluate Modelon’s technical solutions,
- Post-sales technical support
- Back-office work to handle product releases and licensing infrastructure, software demonstrators and learning material. This role covers all Modelon software products and product training and acts globally across markets and industry sectors.
The Application Engineer reports to GM of Modelon KK and Modelon global Application Engineering Manager.
In the pre-sales phase, you will work closely with Business Development staff to deliver the technical resources needed to advance a commercial opportunity to closure. Typical engagements during pre-sales that require Application Engineering (AE) support include technical presentations, product demonstrations, solution development/scoping and evaluation support. You will work together with appropriate Modelon resources, working to deliver timely and high-quality results that positively influence the opportunity.
In the post-sales phase, you will deliver timely and high-quality AE support to Modelon end-users and partners (including resellers and technology licensees). You will manage inbound requests using available support systems, typically through email, phone calls or web meetings, and ultimately ensure the customer receives a superior support experience. You will use the available Modelon Impact training curriculum to deliver training and help customers accelerate their learning curve.
During pre- and post-sales support, you are expected to occasionally travel to customers onsite locations.
In back office work you will work together with the Product Development team to deploy released products and make it available to the Modelon end customers and resellers channels. You will gain knowledge of the complete software installation and licensing mechanism, desktop as well as cloud based, to help support the Commercial team in handling customer license entitlements and license key generation.
This work also includes development of technical platform demonstrators with overall focus on customer productivity, typically involving Modelica modeling, python workflow scripting and design of web application.
You will work cross functional with developers and service team members to create and maintain the Modelon Impact training curriculum.
Responsibilities and Measurables:
You will mainly be responsible for:
- Following through on inbound customer technical support requests.
- Strongly comprehending Modelon products and related technology, along with Modelon Licensing mechanism.
Success in this role will primarily be measured by customer satisfaction metrics. Pipeline conversion rate and sales volume will also be important performance metrics that indicate successful pre-sales AE activities.
