Since 2000, Dagens Industri (DI), the Nordic business magazine, has named the fastest-growing companies in Sweden as “Gazelle companies.” The basic criteria for 2010 Gazelle companies are:
• turn-over exceeding 10 MSEK
• at least 10 employees
• published at least four annual reports
• steady increase in sales the last three years
• at least doubled its turnover during the period
• favorable overall operating results for the four financial years
• primarily organic growth, not acquisitions or mergers
• sound finances
The American researcher David Birch developed the term “Gazelles” already 20 years ago. He showed that it´s in the small, fast-growing businesses the new jobs are created, in contrast to both the major companies and the really small companies that renounce expansion. Gazelles are therefore the dynamic middle section of the industry, but less than one percent of all firms meet the requirements for the designation as a Gazelle. Modelon is very proud to belong to this segment.
