ヒートポンプシステムを広く世界的に普及させることが重要になってきています。例えば、二酸化炭素排出量を削減し、2050年までにカーボン・ニュートラルを達成するためには（国際エネルギー機関の「2050年までのネット・ゼロ・エミッション・シナリオ」で示されている）、2030年までに世界の冷暖房の少なくとも20％をヒートポンプで賄う必要があります。現状は、ヒートポンプは世界の冷暖房需要のわずか10％しか満たしていません。軌道に乗るためには、今後6年間で世界中に6億台のヒートポンプの設置が必要になります。
